/tranˈziSH(ə)n: the process or a period of changing from one state or condition to another.
Such as been life for the last eight weeks.
I thought I would share an update on life here in New York for those back home and while I'm not really one to get too personal with social platforms, here's to doing it anyway!
God has answered our prayers in every single way and the transition from SF to NY has been pretty amazing #classicGod. I don't know why it surprised me, considering the word God gave me (see last blog post), but we've really seen God's provision and it has been such FUN these last few weeks. Regarding what we've been up to as of late, here's the tea:
Neighborhood: I had no idea what to expect about living in NY but I am seriously obsessed with living in Brooklyn! #allthehallelujahhands. There are a zillion shops, restaurants and bars within a few blocks of our place and in fact, we have yet to try the same one twice (sidenote - fave spot so far is Sweetchick, with Midnights coming in at number two). One thing I had to adjust to since living in New York was carrying my groceries home since we don't have a car here. So I now work out regularly just so I can do this (true story), but PTL that there are two grocery stores within a block radius of us. We're just a 2min walk from the waterfront, super close to the train station and just one stop away from Manhattan, so yes, I'm obsessed with our new home.
Work: For those who may not know, one of the biggest reasons we decided to move to NY was for the hubby's job and that has worked out so well for him! And for me, work has been good too! Three days after moving here, I got a desk at the WeWork nearby. This place is #vibessss and it's filled with tons of creatives who keep me motivated and inspired to continue trucking along. Shaun knew that I would go crazy if I was at home all day every day so he insisted that I get a spot here (he knows me well lol). While I have been enjoying the flexibility and freedom that comes with freelancing, I've been toying with the idea of finding a proper job at a publisher or creative agency out here. There's no greater place to be than New York for a creative professional and there are so many opportunities to learn out there! I don't want to stay comfortable and want to keep getting better at my craft, so I've started looking into some career opportunities here - standby for updates.
Church: This has probably been the biggest answer to prayer for us. We've found an amazing community and are loving life at our new home church, C3 Brooklyn. Our pastors here are the sweetest and we're getting more connected in every week. We LOVE the Dinner Party we go to, have starting making some great new friendships and get this - church meets one block away from our home! If that's not destiny, I don't know what is..
Family: This is what I continue to miss the most (Trader Joes coming in hot at #2). While it is tough to be so far away from everyone, we've been able to stay connected thanks to the wonder of technology. And thankfully, my sister-in-law lives here in NY and idk what I'd do without her here. We workout together (shoutout to Classpass), hang out on the reg and started a weekly tradition of Family Night Tuesdays. There is just something about family and though we aren't true flesh and blood, we might as well be with how much I love her (and how many times we've been asked us if we are twins).
I love how God knows exactly what we need, even before we realize what we need. And when I look at our transition, that has definitely been the case for Shaun & I during the last two months. While there have been moments of doubt or loneliness, God has provided for us 10x in every area and down to the last detail and I have full confidence that He will continue to do so in the future.
My hope is writing this post is that by sharing about how good God has been to us, you would be encouraged to believe that He will be just as faithful to you in whatever situation you find yourself in.
What area do you need God's provision in? Comment below and I'd love to believe with you. If He did it (and continues to do it) for us, He'll do it for you.
